A little over a month ago I lost my sweet 20-month old niece, my heart has hurt since then and I have with time tried to learn all I could from this tragedy, remember and keep her memory alive and take advantage of each day. Life can be stressful though, it comes with its down moments, and sometimes without trying we can get all consumed by them.
This morning I was reminded of a very important lesson.
I woke up extra early today and within minutes of being awake felt an urgent need to go outside and find the closest spot to watch the sunrise. It is truly amazing the magic and power that listening to those promptings has for me. As I stood and watched the sunrise over the mountains and the warm golden light touching all that surrounded me I was gently reminded of a lesson. The lesson that all I am stressed or worried about means little. That sweet lesson that we aren't guaranteed the next morning or even the next 10 minutes of our day, embrace the light and the warmth in our life. Breathe deeply in the air and seize the day.
“When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive—to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love—then make that day count!” -Steve Maraboli
